Doris E. Wesley, PhD., an award winning communication and conflict pracademic, as well as the founder and visionary of the GEM Daughters Network, was selected with a few other lineup of powerhouse global speakers to present a Keynote Lecture at the Women Economic Council Solidarity Economy 2024 Annual Conference. This prestigious invitation was extended to recognize her expertise and advocacy in driving meaningful progress of women advancement and empowerment within conflict prone communities.

At the Canadian WEC’s 2024 Annual Conference held on May 21-23, Dr. Doris Wesley presentation/lecture was titled Building Resilient Networked Communities Amidst Conflict Experiences! This 3-Day meeting is the largest gathering of academics, activists, changemakers, community organizers, economists, entrepreneurs, field practitioners, industry pioneers, thought leaders, policymakers, government officials, and other professionals, where they share insights, opportunities, learn about the latest discoveries, and connect with professionals from around the world.

“It was an absolute honor speaking at the Women's Economic Council Conference. Building resilient networked communities amidst conflict experiences was the focus of my presentation,” Doris Wesley said. “I absolutely enjoyed sharing the three successful synergies of my expressions—as an academic, practitioner, and social entrepreneur—that actively involve the network communities in all aspects. Cultural interventions that leverage insights from trusted local actors and utilize social networks initiatives to build resilient networked communities amidst conflict experiences were shared to help us forge meaningful connections and bring multiple perspectives to the prevailing discourse on Solidarity Economy.
